We have 4 methods to limit viewer access to feeds.
Share links — send out share links to give any one access, does not require user to login, commonly used by Google Drive or OneDrive
Account login — requires viewers to login with a Teleport account or attached Facebook, Microsoft, or Google account
Simple password protection — require the viewer to enter a password before viewing, users share the same password, login not required
IP address limits — only viewers coming from certain IP address ranges have access, does not require password or login
Share links are managed in the 'Share' section on each feed or collection.
Share links work by giving anyone that has possession of the link itself, access to the feed or collection. You can define a specific role for the share link giving viewers a specific level of access.
Simple password protection
To set the password or IP address limits, first add a rule on the role you'd like to limit.
Setting the rule on the role allows for easy sharing of access levels between multiple feeds or collections. To have different passwords for two different feeds you would create a new role, then create a share link targeting that new role.
Here is an example password protected feed (note if you’re logged in you won’t see the password as this is a public feed, log out or use a InPivate tab).
Password is: password
IP address limit
To configure IP limits follow the same steps as for simple password protection above.
IP address limit rejects any viewers that aren't connecting from the defined IP address list, ideal for use on intranets or for maximum security.
Require viewers to have a Teleport Account to view the content. The benefit of this approach is that it simplifies security managment and allows viewers to access all feeds from one place. The viewer has their own account and can login using whatever method they prefer such as a Facebook, Microsoft, or Google account.
